Video filmed by a bystander shows three people brandishing the huge blades in the middle on Dowsett Road in Tottenham Hale as they stand by the gang’s car.

One of the yobs is seen squaring up to a rival gang member, also armed with a machete, before the pair clash in a frenzied duel.

As the fight rages on, the driver reverses the gang’s car into their rival, who jogs away to avoid being run over by the vehicle.

One of the three hooded thugs hurls a glass object at the rival before the machete-wielding trio make a dash to their car and flee.

As the car hurtles off, their rival chases after them, brandishing his machete. However, he is seen falling over in the street.

The gang’s driver then reverses back into the street to continue their fight with the man. But the rivals then run away from the gang.

The video was uploaded to social media on Monday, May 10, and is believed to have been filmed recently. The Met Police has been approached for further information. 

Rising numbers of criminals are choosing machetes as their weapons of choice to instil terror in victims and rival gang members. 

It comes as statistics uncovered using freedom of information requests show that in the final two months of 2019 police dealt with 664 crimes involving machetes – an average of 11 a day, or one every 130 minutes. 

This represents a dramatic rise from just three years before, when the deadly blades were used in only 100 crimes a month over the same period.
