Michelle Obama makes shock confession on life after White House – ‘Barack must be strong’
Since her husband departed the White House, Mrs Obama has continued to be a presence in the public sphere and recently released her memoirs on life as the First Lady. Moreover, the former First Lady has spoken of what life has become for her and her husband as their children, Malia and Sasha, have grown up and left the family home. In an interview with Gayle King, Mrs Obama spoke of how she has begun to bond again with her husband now that their children are older.
Praising her husband, Mrs Obama said: “My husband is my teammate and if we are going to win this game together, he has to be strong and he has to be OK with me being strong.”
Away from her husband, Mrs Obama also spoke of her marriage and how its changed since her two daughters have left.
She added: “This is the beauty of finding a partner you really love and respect – because after all the highs and lows, the ups and downs we’ve been through, we have each other, which makes the journey worth it.”
“Marriage is all nice and cute but then kids show up and they take up all the oxygen in the land.
“That’s why they make the babies cute because you would leave them at the Post Office.”
Away from talking about her husband and her children, Ms Obama released a video where she defended the city of Baltimore following President Donald Trump’s recent comments.
Trump made an assertion regarding the city in which he said it was a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess”.
Trump’s comments came as congressman, Elijah Cummings criticised conditions in detention centres on the US-Mexico border.
In defence, Ms Obama posted a video of herself with a dance group from the city.
Although Ms Obama did not mention Trump or his remarks, in the video she seemingly makes a veiled comment in reference towards them.
One of the women from the dance group is heard saying: “When someone is cruel or act like a bully, you don’t stoop to their level.
In response, Michelle, says “Our motto is…”
Responding, the group then shout: “When they go low, we go high.
“Raise our standards to the sky.”
