Ex-porn star Mia Khalifa has weighed in on the situation in Afghanistan, slamming the president for leaving the country and saying he's 'probably in Ibiza.'

Afghanistan is in the process of being taken by the Taliban, 20 years after the fundamentalist group were ousted from power by a US-led military coalition.

Khalifa, who was born in Lebanon and fled during conflict there, took to Instagram early on Monday morning UK time to share her fears of what Afghanistan may become under Taliban rule.

The 28-year-old started her rant by sharing a picture to her story about Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, and reports that he has fled his country to seek refuge elsewhere.

She wrote alongside the image: "And where did he go? Any country he enters should BAN HIM from seeking refuge and leaving his citizens in the hands of the Taliban."

She then shared a few unrelated posts before coming back to the topic a couple of hours later after receiving what she called 'mixed responses' to the story.

Khalifa said it was 'a great time to remind everyone that the American CIA are the ones who created and funded the Taliban in the first place.'

She was referring to how the US, among others, offered funding and equipment to Afghan mujahideen, or guerilla fighters, who were resisting Soviet occupation before the Afghan Civil War in 1992.

She went on to slam the US for pulling troops out of the country where people are left with a 'monster that the US created'. US. forces and other international troops began to withdraw in May.

Khalifa then turned her attentions to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who is reportedly seeking refuge in Uzbekistan.

"You know what else is empty?" she asked rhetorically after mentioning empty US Army bases, "the f****** Presidential Palace, because no one knows where he [Ghani] is because he fled the country as soon as the Taliban took Kabul, vanished, gone….probably in Ibiza! I heard it's great this time of year."

She then opined the state of modern day Afghanistan, comparing it to the 'flourishing' and 'progressive' country of the 70s before the Taliban took over the first time around, in 1996.

"You know what's going to happen now? The Taliban is taking over again, it's going to go back to Sharia Law, women will not be able to seek education, they will not be able to leave the house unescorted by a male, they will not be able to deny or reject any marriage proposals, they will lose all bodily autonomy they have left right now," she added.

Sharia Law is Islam's controversial legal system. During the Taliban's last reign over Afghanistan, women were predominantly barred from working or studying, and were confined to their homes unless accompanied by a male guardian, as mentioned by Khalifa.

Public executions and floggings were common, Western films and books were banned, and cultural artefacts seen as blasphemous under Islam were destroyed, Reuters reported.

Fears for Afghan women and girls in particular are now widespread, as the Taliban have taken control of the capital, Kabul.

"Women in Afghanistan are the most at danger or most at-risk population of the country," Fawzia Koofi, a women's rights activist, former lawmaker and member of the Afghan delegation that was working to negotiate peace with the Taliban before the US military's withdrawal, told NBC.

The Taliban claimed that they would write new laws that would enable women 'to contribute to the country in a peaceful and protected environment,' but reports suggest that women are already under strict prohibition in cities under Taliban control.
