Mentor ‘Guru Geoffrey’ caught by paedo hunters after asking ‘teen’ for pics

A motivational business mentor has been jailed after he was caught by a paedophile hunting group.

Geoffrey Prince, 79, said he wanted to help "rekindle the passion for life" under the pseudonym "Guru Geoffrey" and even published self-help books.

But today (Wednesday, December 14) Prince begins a 20-month prison sentence after he asked a paedophile hunting sleuth, posing as a teenage girl, for explicit snaps and to perform a sex act, LiverpoolEcho reported.

The court heard how the women who caught him in the act had edited pictures of herself to look like a 14-year-old girl and caught Prince on an app called Twoo, where the pair spoke for two months before he eventually asked for the inappropriate snaps.

In November, Prince pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and one count of attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity.

Yesterday he was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.

Prior to his conviction, Prince had published five books about motivation and success in business.

His most recent book was published in January 2022 – around the time he began talking to the "teenage girl".

Prince had previously run a website for his coaching business, but this is no longer accessible – but some of his books are still available to buy on Amazon, one of which is called Success: The Choice is Yours, and another How to be Successful in Sales: 6 Strategies to Help You Increase Your Sales.

The About the Author section of his Amazon page claims Prince ran a boat-building business in the 1970s, and was involved in chemical sales to a four-crown hotel.

The convicted sex offender also offered a Business Start-up course and one-to-one mentoring.

According to his Linkedin, Prince has been a “Business Mentor” since April 2004, and is described as someone who “brings out that small spark inside you, turning it into a blazing inferno.”

He also offered sessions in Zoom and in person, in a course entitled “What have you accomplished in your life”.

In his last Facebook post he said: "To establish true self-esteem we must concentrate on our successes & forget about the failures & negatives in our lives. I know the price of success; is dedication, hard work & an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen."

In another he added: "A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at them!"
