Meghan Markle cruelly heckled about ‘broken families’ as she arrives for award

Meghan Markle was greeted with a "nasty" jab from a heckler ahead of an awards ceremony in New York City over her "broken families".

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, donned a stunning gold gown as she arrived at the Ms Foundation Women of Vision Awards at Ziegfeld Ballroom yesterday

Her husband Prince Harry, 38, and her mother Doria Ragland also accompanied her to the event.

While many of her baying fans flocked to the entrance to catch a glimpse of her, video going viral online shows one cruel person shouting out an insult.

As soon as she stepped out of the car, a man with a British accent could be heard yelling: “Meghan, how do you feel about being a part of two broken families?”

It seemed to be a jab at her relationship with her estranged dad Thomas Markle Sr and the Royal Family.

Meghan was then seen grabbing onto her mum after the comment was made as other people in the crowd were heard telling the bloke to "f**k off" and "shut up".

It is not clear who the heckler was, with people online wrongly identifying him as Daily Express journalist Harry Rutter.

One user said: "I love the instant chorus of "f*ck off" that he got! We don't stand for that bullshit here."

Another commented: "So this guy's job is to go to events where Harry and Meghan are yell insults at them???"

A third wrote: "What did that nasty man say?"

But the night wasn't ruined by the harsh comment as the Duchess was among a number of females to be honoured at the prestigious event, which has celebrated generations of women's progress and power.

The accolade comes after she was recognised for "her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls" through her and the Duke's Archewell Foundation.

A report earlier this year showed that the couple had raised $13million and handed out $3million to charitable causes.

The foundation, which was set up after Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal roles, released a 24-page report earlier this year detailing the causes that have been helped by the money they have donated since it was founded in 2020, which include Covid vaccines and Afghan refugees.
