Meghan Markle and Prince Harry believe other members of the Royal Family are "jealous" of their popularity, according to reports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the bombshell announcement on Wednesday that they will step back as senior royals and seek financial independence.
Meghan and Harry reportedly defied The Queen’s wishes not to announce the plans publicly while negotiations over their "progressive new role" were still ongoing with Buckingham Palace.
The dramatic departure has sent shockwaves through the Royal Family – but sources say the couple have been planning to leave for a long time because of growing resentment about their place in the family.

Multiple insiders told the Daily Mail that Harry and Meghan have long felt they have unique "superstar" power that sets them apart from other royals.
They reportedly feel they are "rolled out" by the Palace when they need to draw a crowd, only to be quickly "constrained" immediately afterwards because so many other royals are "jealous" of their popularity.
Meghan and Harry – and baby Archie – are certainly very popular around the world, and have been hinting at a shift away from royal tradition for some time, including posting a Christmas e-card online instead of sending out official festive cards.

There are reports that the official Royal Portrait released at the end of last year was the "final straw" for Meghan and Harry.
Insiders say the photo, which showed the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George, sent a strong message to the couple that they wouldn't be part of the new, "slimmed-down" monarchy in the future.
ITV's Tom Bradby, a confidante of the Duke and Duchess, claims Meghan and Harry were 'jumping before they were pushed', and the Royal Family was already in the process of changing their roles going forward.
