FOR some, the desire to consume human flesh is so strong that they're prepared to kill for it.

A German teacher has become the latest to be accused of killing and eating his lover for sexual gratification.

The alleged cannibal, Stefan R, is accused of feasting on 44-year-old technician Stefan Trogisch in Berlin after the pair met on a dating site.

A court heard that Stefan R cut up his lover in his flat, ate some parts, and then dumped other remains in various places around the German capital.

Trogisch was reported missing in September last year and a meatless leg bone was found in a park in November.

If convicted, Stefan R faces life behind bars – while another German cannibal was freed to roam the streets last year.

'Flesh tastes like pork'

Germany's latest trial comes two decades on from the nightmarish case of the Master Butcher.

In 2001, Armin Meiwes filmed himself cutting off Bernd Brandes' penis before killing and butchering him into steaks.

The computer repair man cannibal chopped Brandes up in a specially made "slaughter room" in his home in Wüstefeld, Germany.

Miewes then dined on the human flesh alone by candlelight over the course of the next ten months.

What made the horrific case even more bizarre was the fact that Brandes had willingly gone to his death after replying to Meiwes' online ad asking for a volunteer to eat.

"Searching for a well built young man who would like to be eaten by me, significant full body pictures desired," the post read.

"In the slaughter room after he was dead," Meiwes said of Brandes, "I separated the head from his body and hung him from the ceiling.

"Then I removed his organs and cut him in half. I poured hot water over the two halves and washed the body."

Meiwes says the first taste he had of Brandes' flesh – a "rump steak" cut from his back – was "very strange".

"Flesh tastes like pork, but stronger, more substantial," Meiwes added.

"Although, I don't think that other people would have noticed the difference had they eaten it.

"It tasted really good."

Meiwes was only caught when he posted an advert for another victim online.

He was eventually found guilty of murder and, in 2006, sentenced to life.

Last year, Germans were outraged to learn Meiwes was being allowed out of prison in a disguise to take day trips.

Sharing mum with the dog

There have been other stomach-turning cases across the continent in more recent years – including cannibals targeting their own parents.

A Spanish man was jailed in June after he was convicted of killing his mother and eating her corpse.

Alberto Sanchez Gomez, 28, was given over 15 years for the 2019 murder.

Cops found parts of his mother's remains in Tupperware containers in the family home's fridge, along with bones in drawers.

Local reports at the time said her body had been cut up into more than 1,000 tiny pieces with her head, hands and heart found on her bed.

The court also heard that the killer had shared the flesh with his pet dog over the course of two weeks.

It's thought Gomez strangled his mother during an argument in February 2019 before cutting up her body with knives and a saw.

"I’m very repentant. I suffer anxiety from the moment I wake up," he said during his trial.

"I think of my mum and I’m absolutely heartbroken."

The jury at Gomez's trial dismissed his claims that he was experiencing a psychotic episode during the attack, finding him guilty of murder and desecration of a corpse.

And the cannibal horrors have continued this year too.

Killer ate dogs then teen

A killer lured a 13-year-old boy to his death and ate him in France, according to reports.

The dismembered and eaten remains of the victim, known only as Romain, were found in a bag in a villa in Tarascon, near Marseille.

His killer, referred to as Arthur A, is said to have been freed from a psychiatric ward earlier in the month – he is believed to have been notorious in the local area for killing and eating dogs.

Arthur was shot dead during a confrontation with police.

Romain's body had been found by a housekeeper after neighbours complained of a "terrible smell" in Arthur's house.

''We went into the bathroom,'' the unnamed 29-year-old housekeeper told the Parisien.

''Romain was beheaded and his upper body wrapped in plastic. I don't know how you can do that to a child.

"It's inhuman. Arthur seemed totally normal.''

'Ate girlfriend's legs while hungry'

Last year, a cannibal in Ukraine was reportedly caught frying and eating his murdered girlfriend's legs during a house party.

The 41-year-old killer, known only as Oleksandr, was said to have killed his unnamed partner, 50, with a knife during an argument.

Locals discovered parts of her hacked up body 500 metres from the killer's home in Kryvyi Rih shortly after.

Reports in the Ukrainian media claimed Oleksandr was in the middle of eating the victim's legs when cops raided his home last April.

He was said to have told officers he "cooked his girlfriend’s legs and ate them after getting hungry," according to the reports.

'I taste like Buffalo'

Some people have even eaten parts of themselves and shared the experience online.

In 2018, one anonymous man decided to make tacos out of his amputated foot to serve at a dinner party for his friends.

Doctors let the curious chef keep the foot after it was smashed up in a motorbike accident.

After storing it in a freezer for a few weeks, the severed foot was then chopped up and served to ten willing guests at brunch.

"I taste like buffalo. But chewier," he wrote on Reddit.

"Super beefy and a little fat. We weren't looking to go all Hannibal and get gourmet – just to make it so no one gagged."

He added: "My friends and I always had this joke: if you could try human flesh in an ethical and healthy way, would you?

"And we always said of course. Well the opportunity came up and I called them on it.

"It was a neat experience, and I wouldn't change it."
