Man’s botched castration job on victim leaves him bleeding profusely from groin
A Florida man is facing prison time for attempting to castrate a man he met online.
Gary Jon Vanryswyk, 76, performed the botched procedure on a 55-year-old man he met on the fetish website eunuch.com in August 2019.
The DIY job carried out at the pensioner's home resulted in the man having to be airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, bleeding uncontrollably from his crotch.
Vanryswyk reportedly called 911 from the scene himself after he couldn't stop the bleeding.
Officers found the man, who has not been identified, holding a blood-soaked towel to his groin and called in medical assistance.
Police found a room that had been converted into a home operating theatre, with a camera set up to record the grim scene, alongside, scissors, scalpels, clamps and a surgical stapler.
The victim's testicles were found in a jar and blood was splattered all over the property.
Vanryswyk claimed the procedure would "take around 45 minutes" but the victim said he was "constantly fumbling and dropping stuff" as it became a three-hour ordeal.
The victim initially didn't want to press charges as he said the attempted surgery had been "consensual" but in the months following, he was left feeling "suicidal" and said he "regrets" having his testicles removed.

Vanryswyk also pleaded no contest to charges of unlicensed practice of a health care profession resulting in serious bodily injury when he appeared in court on July 29, the Daily Mail reports.
He is reported to have told police he had castrated animals while growing up on a farm and had even removed one of his own testicles in 2012.

His attorney, Jennifer Powell said: "Mr. Vanryswyk is over 70 years old and he has been continually incarcerated since he was arrested in July, I think it was.
"He has vision issues. He has glaucoma that he was getting treatment for that he’s not getting treatment for now that he’s in jail."
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years, however, court records say the defendant has signed a plea deal and will be sentenced to three years in state prison later this year.
