A man was stabbed during a mass brawl in Selfridges' flagship London department store.

The victim, who has not been identified, was knifed in the leg following the violent clash inside the upmarket Oxford Street department store at about 7.35pm on Saturday evening.

Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of a range of offences, including affray.

A video shared on social media shows a man throw what looks like a mannequin to the floor before another begins shouting at him.

More people seem to get involved, including one who appears to be brandishing a knife.

The arguing pair are followed by what looks like at least 10 others as a security guard looks on in disbelief.

The words "no, no" can be clearly heard during the row.

Those involved are believed to have then moved on to another part of the store.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 7.35pm on Saturday, 8 May to reports of a fight at a store in Oxford Street, W1.

“Officers attended the scene and found a male with a stab injury to the leg.

"He has been taken to hospital for treatment – his condition is not thought to be serious.

“He is one of seven people arrested as part of this investigation for offences including affray.”

The inciting incident that sparked the brawl remains unclear.

It's not the first time violence has broken out at the luxury Selfridges shop.

Last year, the Grade II-listed store had to be evacuated after a "CS gas like substance" was released on the shop floor after a fight broke out between two men.

Some 14 people needed treatment after inhaling the toxic fumes in July 2020.

The 50,000-square metre Oxford Street site, which is the second largest of its kind in the UK, was named the world's best department store in 2010 and 2012.
