Sanders backs striking telecommunications workers
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has told striking telecommunications workers in Kentucky that they’re an example for workers across the country by standing up to their company.

The Vermont senator is in Louisville for an afternoon rally in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s hometown. Sanders is expected to criticize McConnell for blocking Democratic efforts to reduce gun violence, strengthen election security and raise the federal minimum wage.
Before the rally, Sanders spoke to striking AT&T workers. They’re part of a walkout in the Southeast after their union accused management of “unfair labor practices” during negotiations for a new contract. AT&T disputes that charge and says it’s prepared to bargain with union leaders on “a new, improved contract.”
Sanders told union members that workers nationwide need to “stand up and tell corporate America, ‘enough is enough.'”
He says corporations need to reinvest in America and stop sending jobs abroad.

Poll: 70 Percent of Americans Feel Angry at Political System That Favors Insiders With Money and Power
According to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on Sunday, Americans are just as angry with the nation’s political and financial establishment as they were before Trump was elected.
Seventy percent of Americans told pollsters that they feel angry “because our political system seems to only be working for the insiders with money and power, like those on Wall Street or in Washington.”
That number overall has barely budged since October 2015. However, Republicans are less angry than Democrats. Twenty-nine percent of Republicans said they are angry, compared to 39 percent expressing anger in 2015. Fifty-four percent of Democrats expressed anger now, but in 2015 only 44 percent said so.
Women under 50, Hispanics, and African Americans saw the biggest increases. For women, the poll registered a 10 percent spike, while Hispanics rose by 11 points and African Americans ticked up five percentage points.
“The question that decides the 2020 election may no longer be ‘Are you better or worse off than you were four years ago?’ but instead ‘Are you as angry as you were four years ago?’ And if that’s the question, the answer is a deafening yes,” Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates told NBC News.
Eagle-eyed space fans spot letters ‘E’ and ‘T’ on Mars in NASA satellite photo – The Sun
E.T. was famously stranded on Earth in the classic film — but now another “extra terrestrial” has been seen on Mars.
A NASA satellite photo captured what appeared to be an “E” and a “T” daubed on the Red Planet.
Scientists were tonight baffled at the bizarre sighting, which was made by eagle-eyed space fans.
One told The Sun: “Try explaining that one. It’s totally remarkable. Now we’ve got graffiti on Mars.
"It’s stellar recognition for the hit 80s film.”
Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster — about a lovable alien trying to get home — became the highest-grossing film ever after its release in 1982.
The image came from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter which has been collecting information on the planet since 2006.
The discovery comes after we revealed that a colony of so-called “micro pigs” have been stranded on the Moon ever since a space probe crash-landed.
