Man ‘murdered his mum and dumped chopped up remains in IKEA bags around city’

An italian man is reported to have confessed to the murder of his mother after he dismembered her body to discard body parts in IKEA shopping bags scattered over the city.

Eduardo Chiarolanza, 47, and he has reportedly admitted to police officers that he killed his mother, Eleonora Di Vicino, 85, in Naples.

Di Vicino had previously been reported missing after an acquaintance of her and her sister raised concerns with police towards the end of August, according to investigators.

The elderly woman reportedly talked regularly with a local school principal but even he had not seen Di Vicino.

Police found one of the shopping bags, which contained human remains, before identifying their suspect.

Following days of investigations, the police determined that their main suspect was one of the elderly woman's three children, Chiarolanza. He was living with his mother at the time.

Friends and family reportedly told the police that he had been suffering from problems since becoming unemployed a few years ago.

After initially denying everything, Chiarolanza allegedly confessed on September 10 to police that he had indeed killed his mother and that he had disposed of her body afterwards.

Police have since found blood in the apartment they shared. It is beileved to be the location where the murder is alleged to have taken place.

They are currently working to discover exactly when Chiarolanza murdered and dismembered his mother.

Police are also still attempting to locate the victim's other body parts, which were also placed into shopping bags and reportedly discarded.

They will use sniffer dogs in the city in an attempt to find the missing bags.

The first body parts were found last week and discovered in a blue IKEA bag that they believe was discarded last week at the latest.

The investigation is still ongoing.
