Man gets wedding ring back 6yrs after losing it on a beach 200 miles from home

A MAN who lost his wedding ring on a beach 200 miles from home has got it back after six years.

Alex Francis’s platinum band slipped off his finger on a family holiday in 2014.

But it was discovered this week by a worker dismantling a timber groyne on the shore.

Christchurch Council in Dorset posted a picture of the ring on Facebook in a bid to reunite it with its owner.

It was seen by friends of Alex’s wife Jo, 45, who got in touch with her — and she was able to identify inscriptions of their wedding date in 2004 and the word “forever”.

Software architect Alex, 46, of Little Waldingfield, Suffolk, said: “I couldn’t believe it. Surreal is probably the word.”

He thinks the ring came off while playing rugby with their two daughters and relatives on the beach in Christchurch during a half-term break.

Alex said: “There’s always that hope it might turn up. We didn’t expect this.”

Council worker Julian Wyatt found it. He said: “It’s a happy ending, albeit six years in the waiting.”
