An investigation has since been launched by West Midlands Police which stated it had launched a murder investigation after he was found with "fatal head injuries".

The force said that the victim’s family had been informed and in a release said it was “continuing to keep an open mind around the motive for the attack”.

"There were kids around, it's terrible. A blue tent has since been set up. It doesn't look good."

The force added: “We'd ask anyone who can assist our enquiries to contact us via 101, or Live Chat on our website, and quote log 2653 of 15 March.”
