A man has been arrested and will be questioned by police over the death of a woman at a property in Melbourne’s south-east last week.

Homicide squad detectives arrested the 20-year-old in Melbourne’s CBD on Monday afternoon following a four-day investigation.

In a statement released on Monday afternoon, Victoria Police said the pair were known to each other and investigators were not looking for any other suspects.

Emergency services were called to a property on Glendale Road in Springvale about 12.10pm last Thursday following reports a woman had been found dead.

A section of the street was cordoned off by police as they established a crime scene. Officers spoke to neighbours and removed brown paper bags from the property.

Distraught family members arrived at the scene late on Thursday before returning around lunchtime on Friday.

The family members revealed the woman who died was a mother of five and aged in her early 40s.

Neighbours said they didn’t know the woman, and it’s believed she may have only been living in the neighbourhood for a few months.
