Major rat infestation ‘completely ruining lives’ of residents in quaint village

A street in a quaint village has become overrun by a rat infestation, much to the horror of concerned residents.

Residents of Glebe Road in Scartho near Grimsby say that the vermin are "completely ruining our lives" as the number of sightings increases.

Droppings and gnaw marks have been reported all over the street but no one can work out what is attracting the unwelcome rodents to the "lovely" road, reports Grimsby Live.

Bradley Paterson, who has lived in the area for three years, said: "I absolutely adored living here at first.

"The street is so peaceful and calm. But then all of a sudden, around one year ago, I kept spotting rats in my back garden.

"This is really strange because this area is really clean and tidy.

"So we called pest control and we thought the problem was sorted."

But to Bradley's dismay, the issues were far from resolved.

He continued: "It was only about a month or two after this we saw more. It was unbelievable.

"I was horrified to see more of them in the garden and they are completely ruining our lives.

"It's just a shame because the area is so lovely and I'm now thinking of trying to move again because I can't live in fear of rats."

Leigton Marseden, who lives on Glebe Road with her husband, said: "We haven't been affected yet but I have spotted them on our street.

"It's worrying to be honest. Rats are nothing but a nuisance as they gnaw and leave a mess.

"They breed so wildly so of course it's a big worry when thinking of ways to get rid of them.

"If it's left too long, it'll become a massive problem that affects everyone.

"People have said they don't like living here anymore because of the rats."

Tommy Oppington, who also lives on Glebe Road, said: "I absolutely hate rats.

"They are just disgusting creatures. You see them scurrying from house to house around here, and it's just becoming too much for me. I'm not sure about anyone else.

"I've seen rat droppings, gnawing marks on my garden furniture which I've had to replace. It's just dreadful

"I'm just thankful they aren't inside anyone's homes yet or that would be an even bigger problem.

"I'm really old now and can't be chasing rats about in the garden, surely someone can come and help us?"
