The sketch of a prowler Carole Tranmer saw outside the family’s Portuguese holiday apartment is reportedly at the centre of the hunt for a new suspect. 

The Brit, who used to work at Windsor Castle, spotted the stranger six hours before the then-three-year-old disappeared. 

She was so concerned by his behaviour in trying to sneak through a gate she contacted police. Carole, 71, has been quizzed at least three times about the man.

She revealed she worked for the Royal Collection of art. 

Carole said she knew the Queen personally and frequently encountered the Royal Family in private visits. 

The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said there was a “degree of credibility” to claims Ney could be linked.
