Wakey, wakey! Four-year-old boy can’t stop nodding off while sitting in his classroom – even when his teacher yells ‘school is over’

We’ve all been there: trying to fight off sleepiness in class, at work or on the bus.

This little boy has put a smile on web users after a trending video showed him struggling to stay awake during lessons.

Four-year-old Zhou Zichen is seen dozing off while sitting in his classroom at a kindergarten in China.

Four-year-old Zhou Zichen from China’s Gansu Province has become famous after footage showed him dozing off repeatedly while sitting in the classroom of his kindergarten

The sleepy child failed to wake up when his teacher shouted his name loudly in front of him.

Amused by the pupil, the female teacher then tried to tell Zichen ‘school is over’ and ‘it’s time to go home’, but the boy carried on napping.

Zichen is a pupil at a kindergarten in Qingyang, north-western China’s Gansu Province, according to China’s Kan Kan News. 

The teacher filmed the boy’s reaction last week and uploaded the footage onto Chinese short-video app Kuaishou because she found the scene funny.

Zichen’s mother says the boy is outgoing and active. She adds her son takes after her as ‘when I was at school, I also fell asleep often’. Footage of Zichen nodding off in class has gone viral

The adorable child has since been dubbed the ‘little sleeping god’ by web users who can’t help but express their love for him.  

On China’s Twitter-like Weibo, one user ‘SEQEN’ said the boy was ‘so cute’ wile another commentator ‘SkylineZl’ noted ‘I feel like this is me’.

Apparently, Zichen is an outgoing and active boy with a passion of telling stories. 

His mother told Kan Kan News: ‘He tends to fall asleep whenever the environment is quiet.’ 

The mother confessed that she was also amused when Zichen’s teacher sent her the footage and she was not angry at her son. 

She even revealed that the boy takes after her. 

‘When I was at school, I also fell asleep often,’ she said.
