A TEENAGER has died following a shooting at a high school in Las Vegas.

Police have confirmed they are investigating following the 18-year-old's death at Canyon Springs High School.

Local reports say the boy – thought to be a student – died in the incident this afternoon and the school was placed on lockdown.

The shooting is understood to have taken place outside the school building, near the baseball field.

The Clark County school district had tweeted: "Canyon Springs High School is currently on lockdown."

KTNV reports no suspects have been detained and no weapon has been recovered.

The tragic teen was rushed to University Medical Center where he later died.

Police said the shooting appears to be a targeted incident, according to local reports.

They had put the school on lockdown and searched classrooms to make sure there were no others wounded.
