Kelowna RCMP asking for help in Baron Road shooting

Police in Kelowna are asking for public help regarding a shooting on Baron Road earlier this year.

On Jan. 31 at approximately 9:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to a house along the 1900 block of Baron Road. When they arrived, they found a man and a woman doing chest compressions on an unconscious male gunshot victim in cardiac arrest.

The 49-year-old victim, who was known to police, was rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

On Thursday, Kelowna RCMP said the shooting sent the victim into cardiac arrest, but that he is now recovering.

Police also said they have recovered a suspect vehicle — a white, four-door 2005 Chevrolet Malibu – and released a photo of it.

“Our serious crime investigators remain committed to identifying the individual or individuals responsible for this violent crime,” said RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“Investigators want to hear from anyone who has knowledge of who would have been operating the Chevolet Malibu or an occupant inside that suspect vehicle on the night of the Baron Road shooting.”

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-470-6236 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
