Kate Middleton’s mum will give grandkids their own Christmas tree to decorate

Kate Middleton's mum has offered royal fans a glimpse into her preparations for Christmas – and why it's going to be extra special for her grandkids.

She's repeating a tradition for the Cambridges' kids in which she gives them a tree to decorate while she takes the lead on the main one.

Carole Middleton posted on the Instagram page of her business, which is called Party Pieces, showing what she's got planned for this year.

The grandmum-of-five – including William and Kate's Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – said: "Once again this year we plan to have two Christmas trees: one for the children to decorate and one which I do myself.

"My beloved tree-top angel is looking a little worse for wear after years of service so it's time to invest in something new," she wrote. "This Light Up Gold Star will bring an extra twinkle to proceedings."

Carole first revealed her tradition of having multiple trees during the festive period in an interview with The Telegraph in 2018, when she said that she put one tree in each of the kids' rooms.

She also admitted that lockdowns brought massive changes to her usual Christmas during coronavirus restrictions last year.

"For me, what really matters is that my family feels connected," she said. "I normally let my grandchildren help me decorate the tree. This year, I'll ask them by video call to decide which decoration should go where. It may need to be tastefully rearranged later…!"

Kate's mum was by her side along with the rest of her family as the Duchess of Cambridge hosted her very first Christmas carol concert last week.

The event at Westminster Abbey saw the royal stand beside dad Michael, sister Pippa and brother James who was with his new wife Alizee Thevenet.

Carole and Michael also appeared with James at the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
