Kate Middleton pens touching letter to girl who invited Prince George to a party
A youngster who invited Prince George to her sixth birthday has been given one of the best rejection letters imaginable after Kate Middleton got in touch.
The Duchess of Cambridge took time out to respond to a letter written by a girl who was turning six and wanted Prince George, nine, to attend her birthday party.
But rather than take her up on the offer, George – via his mum – declined the invitation in the most polite way possible.

According to the Daily Express, in a now-deleted tweet posted by the girl's mum, the letter reads: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked me to thank you for your letter, in which you invite Prince George to your 6th Birthday party – I am sorry that it took so long to reply.
“Their Royal Highnesses were extremely grateful for your kind invitation.
“Having given careful consideration to the possibilities, however, I very much regret that Their Royal Highnesses reluctantly feel they have to decline.
“Nevertheless, I hope that you enjoyed your birthday.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were immensely touched that you should take the trouble to write as you did to their son, Prince George.
“It really was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses have asked me to send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.”

Prince George celebrated his ninth birthday last month (July 22) .
Details of his birthday celebrations were kept away from the public eye this year, although one tradition that will have taken place is the giving of an “impossible gift” given by his godmother Julia Samuel.

Kate Middleton and Prince William set to leave ‘glorious prison’ of Kensington Palace
Each year, she buys George an ‘impossible’ gift, one that William will then spend the next few days painstakingly assembling.
She said: "I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making.
"William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that."
