John Lewis apologies to customer after mystery poo 'arrives inside home delivery package'
JOHN LEWIS has apologised to a customer who claims he was sent a POO in a courier package.
Dan Rodgers, 29, received a package at his home in Workington, Cumbria from the department store on Friday evening.
He brought the bag inside after it was sent by a Hermes courier and opened it up – only to be shocked as a poo fell out.
"It's all vacuum sealed, and everything was where it should be, so I just ripped it open and I saw my T-shirt and gloves fall out of the bag and onto my bed, and then I noticed it smelled a bit weird," he told The Sun Online.
"I just thought 'what the…', it's unbelievable. I got my phone out and took a picture of it and I was like 'have you sent us a s**t?'."
Mr Rodgers said he tweeted about the unpleasant discovery and was then called by someone from John Lewis.
"I think it's f**king hilarious, I just wanted to find out what happened. They apologised, but as the conversation went on I told him 'mate, it's funny'," Mr Rodgers said.
"I ended up throwing the poo in a wheelie bin. How are you supposed to process it? Someone sent me a poo in the post… I can't find anything like it having happened anywhere."
The package was completely sealed when Mr Rodgers received it, he said, meaning there was no chance someone had tampered with it.
"I just ripped it open. I'm not in the habit of filming everything but I might be now," he said.
"It was in the grey John Lewis bag, so I figured it's got to have been whoever sealed the bag.
"I can't believe it… it's a f**king pandemic and someone's sent me a s**t."
A John Lewis spokeswoman said they had investigated Mr Rodgers' delivery but could not explain how a poo ended up in being sent to him.
"We are utterly appalled and have apologised unreservedly to the customer," the spokeswoman said.
"Despite a thorough investigation together with our delivery company including reviewing CCTV, this is still totally inexplicable."
The Sun Online has contacted Hermes for comment.
