Jeremy Corbyn will ‘cost taxpayer whopping £13.2billion by creating over 100 quangos’ – The Sun
JEREMY Corbyn will create more than 100 new quangos costing taxpayers £13.2billion, it was claimed last night.
Tory analysts warned it will mean every taxpayer is slapped with a £425 bill over the next five years to fund Labour’s bloated bureaucracy and vanity projects.
Labour bosses have vowed to create a flood of new state boards to decide on nearly all areas of life including wages, the sale of land and the role of women.
Treasury Minister Rishi Sunak said: “Jeremy Corbyn’s plan to set up over a hundred new quangos will hugely increase bureaucracy and waste in government.
“Corbyn’s new quangos range from the pointless and profligate to the deeply damaging and sinister.
“I am particularly concerned that they will hugely increase the power of their chums in the trade unions which will mean more strikes and more gridlock.
“The British people have worked hard to repair the damage done to our economy by the last Labour Government, we shouldn’t let Corbyn throw it all away.”
He warned that Labour’s obsession with creating endless state bodies and watchdogs would mean less cash for hospitals and schools.
Mr Corbyn has vowed to increase the size of the state massively if he wins on Thursday.
Shadow Cabinet minister Jon Trickett said: “The Tories have been caught lying about Labour policies time and time again in this election, and this is no exception.
“Labour is committed to making government accountable and putting power in the hands of the people.
“We are proud of our transformative manifesto and our ambitious plans to start implementing it in our first 100 days in government.”
