Jeffrey Epstein's girlfriend visited him in prison before his death

EXCLUSIVE: Jeffrey Epstein’s Belarusian dentist girlfriend – the last person to speak to him before he was found hanged – also VISITED the pedophile in prison days earlier, as source reveals the relationship was ‘very serious’

  • Prison logs obtained by DailyMail.com reveal Karyna Shuliak went to see Jeffrey Epstein at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan on July 30, 2019
  • The Belarus native, believed to be in her 30s, was the only personal visitor Epstein had during his incarceration, according to prison records
  • The pair spoke on the phone ten days later on August 9, when Epstein reportedly did not give the impression Epstein was suicidal

Jeffrey Epstein’s girlfriend – who was the last person outside prison to speak to him before his death – also paid the pedophile a visit in jail days earlier, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Karyna Shuliak was first identified in March 2020 as the woman the disgraced financier had last talked to on the phone from behind bars, the day before he was found hanged in his cell on August 10, 2019.

But prison records obtained by DailyMail.com now reveal that 11 days earlier, on July 30, Shuliak, a native of Belarus believed to be in her thirties, went to see the late pedophile at the grim Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan while he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

She would have likely met Epstein in the notorious Special Housing Unit (SHU) of the now-shuttered MCC, where inmates were kept in their cells for up to 22 hours a day.

According to the source, the couple, who reportedly dated for seven years, seemed to have a ‘very serious relationship’.

Jeffrey Epstein’s last known girlfriend, Karyna Shuliak (pictured together in 2014) visited the pedophile in prison just 10 days before he was found dead in his cell in 2019

The Belarus-born woman, believed to be in her thirties, is reported to have been in a relationship with the disgraced financier for about seven years and was photographed leaving his $75million New York City mansion in January 2015

Epstein was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges at the grim Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan when he was found hanged in his cell on August 10, 2019

In fact, such was Epstein’s affection for the much younger woman that on the night before his death, he even ordered his lawyers to leave so that he could speak to her on the phone, the insider said.

Prison records from Epstein’s suicide were released as part of a FOIA request and consist of more than 4,000 pages of reports, emails, and other material related to his time in pre-trial custody.

Visitor logs show a ‘Karina Shaliak’ – a misspelling of her name – was admitted to the MCC to visit Epstein on July 30 at 5:15pm – with all other visitors being lawyers. Epstein’s first name was also misspelled on the log as Jeffry.

Ten days later, Epstein was finishing his last full day alive and was meeting with his attorneys ahead of his final phone call.

Epstein, 66, was arrested on July 6, 2019 on sex trafficking charges but died before he could face trial

According to the source: ‘Everyone had to leave the room because he was so eager to get on the phone.

‘If he didn’t use the phone right then he would miss his window so the meeting ended abruptly and he went to use the phone and the lawyers all left.’

Among Epstein’s calls that night was one to Shuliak, the contents of which have never been made public, though it would have been routine for it to be recorded since it would not have been  protected like attorney-client calls.

According to the source, it ‘seemed that Epstein and Karyna were in a very serious relationship’.

Earlier reports had stated that Shuliak was in Belarus for the call and that Epstein hadn’t said anything that raised concerns with her about his welfare.

‘When she hung up the phone she was not under the impression Epstein was suicidal,’ a source said at the time.

Epstein’s lawyer Reid Weingarten said in one of his court hearings that he was not a ‘despairing, despondent, suicidal person’.

Despite this, a prosecutor from the Southern District of New York reviewed the recording of the conversation to see if there was something they had missed.

The following day, August 10, Epstein was found hanging in his cell by prison guards while they did their morning checks on him.

Prison records obtained by DailyMail.com confirm Karyna – whose name is misspelled – not only was the last to speak to Epstein but also visited him in jail on July 30, 2019

It is not clear how Epstein met Shuliak (pictured in 2011 while taking English classes) but she is not the only woman from Eastern Europe to come into Epstein’s orbit

Shuliak (right) purportedly married Epstein associate Jennifer Kalin (left) in what was allegedly a sham marriage to keep her in the US

Shuliak, originally from Minsk, is believed to have arrived in the US in 2009

A medical examiner ruled he died by suicide but conspiracy theories have speculated ever since that his powerful friends may have played a role in it.

News of Epstein’s death reportedly left Shuliak ‘devastated’.

It is not clear how Epstein met Shuliak but after his release from prison in 2009 numerous Russians and Eastern Europeans were seen in his orbit.

The visit sheds new light on Epstein’s relationship with Shuliak, who was decades younger than the financier who was 66 when he died.

Shuliak, originally from Minsk, is believed to have arrived in the US in 2009 and married Epstein associate Jennifer Kalin in what was allegedly a sham marriage to keep her in the country.

Epstein is said to have bought one of his alleged co-conspirators, Nadia Marcinkova, from her parents in the former Yugoslavia, but there is no known indication that he did the same with Shuliak.

After her marriage to Kalin in 2013, Shuliak stayed with Epstein for the next six years despite him admitting on his MCC health questionnaire that he had more than 10 sexual partners in the previous five years.

Epstein is said to have paid for Shuliak’s mother’s expensive medical treatment, and may have helped fund the upscale home where her parents live in Minsk, the largely rundown capital of Belarus.

And her attendance at Columbia University now appears likely to have been paid for by Epstein.

Photos previously obtained by DailyMail.com show Shuliak leaving Epstein’s $75million New York mansion in January 2015 in a white jacket, jeans, a scarf and a designer handbag.

In another set of photographs from June 2016 she was seen coming and going from the property with some of Epstein’s inner circle including his associate Susan Hamblin.

That same day former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barack entered and left the property.

Epstein changed his will two days before his death but it is unclear what, if anything, Shuliak received.

His close associates however have long been rumored to have received substantial payouts from him.

Shuliak’s jailhouse visit sheds new light on Epstein’s relationship with the woman, who was decades younger than the 66-year-old financier

She was among the many visitors spotted arriving and leaving Epstein’s $75million mansion in New York City that is now being remodeled

Shuliak was also revealed to be a registered dentist in  Florida and California. A dentist chair was among the items Epstein kept at his Florida mansion

During the trial of his former ‘madam’ Ghislaine Maxwell in 2021, the court heard that Epstein paid her at least $30.7million while they were together.

In a bizarre twist, Shuliak was also revealed to be a registered dentist in Florida,  California and the Virgin Islands.

She also is listed as a dentist with her own practice in the Virgin Islands and the address listed is connected to Epstein.

DailyMail.com has previously revealed that a dentist’s chair was among the items that Epstein had shipped to his private island in the Caribbean. He also had one in his Palm Beach mansion.

It is understood that he used to fix up the teeth of women close to him and Shuliak could have done it.

Shuliak was on his private plane when it returned to Teterboro airport from Paris in July 2019 when Epstein was arrested by the FBI.

Public records indicate that Shuliak was registered as living at Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion between 2015 and 2018.

Her last known address was Little St. James, Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands.

Epstein is listed as one of her associates on public records as is Janusz Banasiak, one of his former housekeepers, and one of his ex-drivers.

Shuliak appears to have a handful of family members in the US but nobody returned calls when DailyMail.com previously approached them.

At one address just outside New York, a woman angrily insisted the relative did not live there anymore. Calls to Shuliak’s last known number were not answered.
