‘Jealous’ thug stabbed female friend 10 times after catching her on Tinder date

A man who stabbed a friend 10 times while she was on a Tinder date has been convicted of attempted murder.

Robert Truscott, 48, was thought to have been infatuated with Emma Wolfenden, 37 – but the feeling was not mutual.

And a court heard, this week., how he became “angry and jealous” when she confessed to agreeing to go on a date with someone she met on the dating app Tinder.

But it was during that meeting where Truscott cycled to her home and stabbed her with a 10-inch kitchen knife reports SWNS.

She suffered horrific injuries including a wound to her neck which pierced her jugular vein, and six chest wounds as well as lacerations to her liver, lung and diaphragm and three stab wounds to her stomach.

The man Ms Wolfenden was with suffered a cut hand while wrestling the knife from Truscott.

Ms Wolfenden survived the attack on January 21, 2021, and was rushed to hospital where she underwent four operations.

She spent three months recovering in hospital before being discharged in April and Truscott was charged with attempted murder.

On June 23, Ms Wolfenden was found dead at her home and a post mortem revealed her death was not directly linked to the attack.

Following a trial at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday, Truscott was found guilty of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm to the man.

He had previously pleaded guilty to possession of a knife.

Detective Constable Gemma Allen, of Leicestershire Police, said: “This was no doubt an extremely frightening incident for Ms Wolfenden and for the other male victim involved at the time.

“Ms Wolfenden remained in hospital for three months after the incident receiving treatment for serious injuries because of the terrifying actions of Robert Truscott.”

Truscott was remanded into custody and will be sentenced on February 4.
