Instagram gran puncture lung while watching

An Instagram star dubbed the "world's cutest gran" suffered a catalogue of horror injuries after chasing a spider while watching an "exciting episode" of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Unlikely internet sensation Pauline Walker and her devoted husband of 69 years Geoffrey have racked up more than 360,000 followers simply posting updates of their daily lives together.

But this week Pauline, 86, suffered a “really traumatic” fall after the freak accident. She was rushed to hospital, forcing the deeply-in-love pair to be separated for the first time in decades because Geoffrey can’t visit.

Explaining his wife's bizarre tumble, the heartbroken 89-year-old said: “We was watching the television – Who Wants to be a Millionaire – and it was all getting exciting.

“Then Pauline spied this spider running across the hearth and jumped up to get a cover to put over it until we could safely take it outside.

“It took a little turn towards Pauline and she backed out of its way.

“She took a really nasty fall.

“It was really traumatic.”

The couple, from Thringstone, near Coalville, Leics, post heartwarming videos about their long-standing relationship.

It was an easy way for them to keep in touch with family who had moved away from the area.

They have three children, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren together and all the family are delighted by their elderly relatives' Instagram fame.

Geoffrey shared a video moments after the fall as paramedics tended to his wife in their living room – before the extent of her injuries were known.

He joked to them: “She’s on the gas and air but I don’t think you’re expecting are you Pauline?”

The pensioner has been able to speak to Pauline and says he is comforted by the messages sent by “thousands” of well wishers.

He said: “Pauline is doing well although she is really uncomfortable and in pain.

“I can’t visit and no-one else can visit.

“All for stepping out the way of a spider!

“We think it’s going to be quite a long job recovery.”

Trooper Pauline managed to share a video from her hospital bed earlier today.

She said: ”Thank you for all the prayers. I’m feeling a little better today. I can get my breath better thank you.”

It comes after carpenter Christopher Tapp, 24, was left "a day from death" after a horror bite from a false widow spider.

He nearly died from sepsis after the creature bit him.

He is warning others to be vigilant and get bites checked if they are nipped by a creepy crawly after he nearly died on Christmas Day.
