Inside ‘filthiest hotel ever’ with ‘poo-stained towels’ located in posh village

A horror hotel dubbed the 'filthiest ever' has been slammed for having 'poo-stained towels' by fuming guests.

The Airport Inn, based in the upmarket village of Wilmslow at Manchester Airport, has received a barrage of one-star reviews on TripAdvisor.

The Britannia-owned establishment is just 10 minutes away from the busy airport and is described as 'perfect' for travellers by Britannia.

However, over 500 'terrible' and over 300 'poor' reviews wholeheartedly disagree with that assessment.

Aside from the shocking state of the towels, other criticisms include the stench of 'stale smoke', noise and ageing decor, reports CheshireLive.

One reviewer said: "Dreadful hotel. We booked it last minute and wished we had done some research.

"First impressions weren’t great – there was a slurring, swearing woman falling over a sofa in the bar which adjoins the reception then the rooms are pretty grubby and smell of stale smoke

"While this hotel may advertise itself as an airport hotel, if you need somewhere to stay before a flight, avoid this place like the plague- it has no interest in meeting your needs."

Another TripAdvisor user titled their review 'The FILTHIEST hotel I have ever stayed in'.

During February this year, Evie Wilman said: "Staff were lovely – no complaints there. The entire hotel reeked, to the point we felt sick.

"Got to our room, opened the door to something that looks like it hasn’t been decorated in 50 years.

"Carpet not hoovered, crumbs everywhere. Breadsticks under the bed. Hairs in the bed. Poo stained towel. Mould in the bathroom. Stained wall with God knows what. Dust everywhere."

Another reviewer slammed the noise problems.

After arriving at the Airport Inn at 2.30am they said: "We experienced the couple in the next room arguing loudly with themselves, this carried on through the night and at 6.00am. I phoned the reception to get the noise stopped. Which didn’t happen.

"Also the hotel is grubby and tired, the bathroom was stained, as were the carpets. The whole appearance of the hotel was that of a rundown, past it’s best business.

"I wouldn’t touch this establishment with a barge pole."

However, there is at least one guest who left happy. One four-star review – the only four-star rating in the past four months – was left in January.

They said: "Good reception got us checked in efficiently. Now to the rooms, I have no complaints or observations about dark wood headboard or furniture, I do have observations about clean white sheets and clean white towel.

"Dinner buffet style and for what we paid [on] the night very acceptable in fact I had the very tasty chilli.

"Good night's sleep followed by a very good breakfast. The toaster did only toast one side though, which I am sure some people could make a huge drama about.

"Well done to the catering staff who could not have worked any harder or been more helpful… A very good night's stay and would not hesitate to stay again."
