Iconic brand Cath Kidston is set to close last High Street store

Iconic fashion brand Cath Kidston is set to close its last High Street store within days after it fell in administration and was rescued by Next

  • Cath Kidston’s acquisition by Next did not include the physical shops
  • Three sites closed yesterday, and the last will close on Wednesday

Fashion and homeware brand Cath Kidston is set to disappear from high streets as it closes more shops.

It once had over 100 shops worldwide but is now set to close its last in the coming days.

Although the brand was bought by Next in March this year, that sale did not include the remaining four physical shops, which have since continued trading.

Next’s £8.5million acquisition only gave them the brand name, website domains, and intellectual property.

Afterwards, the stores were set to continue trading until stock ran out.

The last Cath Kidston store, in London, will close on Wednesday

Cath Kidston has been on UK high streets since 1993, but will not last there beyond its 30th anniversary

Three of the four Cath Kidston shops are closed for good as of today, and the last one is not far behind.

Stores in Ashford, York, and Ellesmere Port all had their final days of trading on June 25, and the London branch in Piccadilly is the sole survivor.

That store is due to close this Wednesday.

Cath Kidston is known for its floral designs and label, giving things a vintage feel, and has been on high streets since 1993.

By 2012, there were Cath Kidston stores in Japan, Korea, and China.

The store mainly moved online after going into administration in 2020, which saw 1000 staff lose their jobs and 60 shops closed.

In April, CK Acquisitions Limited – the continuing part of Cath Kidston not taken in by Next – went into administration having not made its annual accounts which were due at the end of March according to Companies House.
