Hunt on for thief seen stealing full-size model of Star Wars’ Yoda on CCTV

Baffled cinema workers have been left trying to track down a rogue 'Jedi hunter' after they sneaked in and stole a Yoda from a Star Wars display.

The opportunist criminal wearing hi-vis gear can be seen in shocking CCTV footage making off with the 2-foot replica version of the film character from the Movie Starr cinema in Canvey Island, Essex.

Security guards reportedly chased after the man after movie-goers spotted him pinching the model of the elderly Jedi master, but were unable to catch him.

Saddened bosses at the picture house have now made a public appeal to 'use the force' and report any sightings of their Yoda to the local police station.

The figure had proven to be a big hit with children in recent years after the uptick in releases for the popular sci-fi film franchise.

Bradley Marsh, manager at Movie Starr, told The Sun: “We got the Star Wars figures when the new film was released.

“He means so much to Movie Starr. Our customers love to see him for photos and even give him a cuddle.

“All we ask for is that someone does the right thing and brings him back.”

Back in October, an inquisitive Google Maps user wowed fellow Star Wars fans by finding an island that bears an incredible resemblance to Baby Yoda.

The screenshot, which was uploaded to a Reddit page dedicated to Google Maps, shows a green land mass that even seems to have the critter's ears.

As the author of the curious sighting captioned it “Baby Yoda Island”, other users seemed to have identified other animated characters, from Dumbo to Stitch.

Some of the 40,000 members in the group also saw Shrek, the green ogre from the movie and franchise of the same name, as well as a cow.
