Hunt for woman, 21, who vanished after ‘man approached her’ on night out

Police are searching for missing Lybi Halliday whose friends say she was "approached" by a man on a night out.

Officers are desperately trying to trace the 21-year-old who was reported missing in Scotland after she didn't come home following an outing.

Lybi Halliday was last spotted in Glasgow City Centre at around 11.30pm on Friday and was reported missing the next morning.

Close friends of the woman say she was approached by a "man in a brown jacket" in the Trongate area of the city, writes the Daily Record.

Police are now urgently appealing for any key information from the public which may lead to confirming her whereabouts.

Lybi has been described as white, around 5ft 3ins tall, and of a slim build.

She had worn her long dark hair tied up in a ponytail.

Before her reported disappearance, she was wearing a dark green checked shirt with a white crop top tied in the middle.

She also had baggy blue ripped jeans on, sunglasses and was carrying a small black handbag.

At 11.30pm Lybi was believed to have been making her way to Central Station to get a train home.

However, she didn't arrive home and her family reported it to the police.

Police Scotland Sergeant Louise McLenaghan said: “Lybi was last seen in the Trongate, Glasgow City Centre around 11.30 pm and was believed to have been making her way to Central Station to get her train home, however, she didn't arrive home and so her family called police.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen her or has any information on her whereabouts to get in touch with police via 101. Please quote reference number 1136 of May 1, 2021, when calling.

"We'd also appeal to Lybi herself to get in touch with police or her family who are concerned for her well-being."

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace her."
