Hunt for dog killer after dead Staffordshire bull terrier found stuffed inside gym bag and dumped in stream – The Sun
A DEAD dog was found inside a gym bag covered in blood and dumped in a stream.
The RSPCA is investigating following the heartbreaking discovery of the Staffordshire bull terrier called Archie in Heslington, North Yorks.
His cause of death is not known but charity workers fear he was killed.
The gruesome discovery was made on January 5.
His cause of death is not yet known but investigators say there was "quite a bit of blood present" when they found him.
Tragic Archie was micro-chipped but the registered owner said the pup had been re-homed before his death and his chip details were not changed.
The identity of his new owners is not known.
RSPCA inspector Alice Cooper said: "Archie was a black and white male Staffy and was wearing a red collar when he was found.
"The gym bag he was in is quite distinctive – blue with white writing saying 'Make your own destiny' all over it.
"Whilst we don't know what the cause of death was at the moment, there was quite a bit of blood present, and it seems like a very strange way to dispose of a loved pet.
"I'm urging anyone who has any information that might help me to find out what happened to Archie to get in touch."
Anyone with information should call the RSPCA inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
