Human brains just ‘decades away’ from Matrix-style link-up to internet ‘SUPER brain’

Experts added the incredible technological leap could happen within decades due to new research developing a way to directly link up to the internet.

Leading nanotechnology scientist, Dr Robert Freitas Jr, said this could be achieved with the use of “neural nanorobots”, which would be implanted into the body – connecting people to the network in real-time.

He added: “These gadgets would explore the human vasculature, cross the blood-cerebrum hindrance, and exactly auto position themselves among, or even inside mind cells.

“They would then remotely transmit encoded data to and from a cloud-based supercomputer arrange of continuous mind state checking and information extraction.”

“This shared cognition could revolutionise democracy, enhance empathy, and ultimately unite culturally diverse groups”

Dr Nuno Martins

According to researchers from UC Berkeley and the US Institute for Molecular Manufacturing, it would give people instant access to collective human knowledge.

It could even lead to the creation of a “global super brain” that could connect humans to AI, allowing for interconnected thought.

An experimental so-called “BrainNet” system has already been tested, which could open the pathway to humans exchanging information directly via the cloud.

Dr Nuno Martins, from UC Berkley, said the super brain could even harness the power of any number of people and machines at once.

He added: “This shared cognition could revolutionise democracy, enhance empathy, and ultimately unite culturally diverse groups into a truly global society.”

But, a challenge for developers on how to transfer neural data to and from supercomputers in the cloud.

Dr Martins continued: “This challenge includes not only finding the bandwidth for global data transmission but also, how to enable data exchange with neutrons via tiny devices embedded deep in the brain.”

“Nevertheless, with these and other promising technologies developing at an ever-increasing rate, an ‘internet of thoughts’ could become a reality before the turn of the century.”

It comes after experts previously told Daily Star Online how brain implants were being planned to connect our brains to AI.

The astonishing claims mean people will be able to get answers by simply thinking the questions.
