How old is CNN chief correspondent John King?

JOHN King has been part of the CNN family since 1997.

He quickly moved up the ranks, and became the network's chief national correspondent in 2005.

How old is John King?

Upon joining CNN, King served as the network's senior White House correspondent for nearly six years, until 2005.

During that time, he reported on the Iraq war and the September 11 terrorist attacks, and traveled to the South Asia to cover the deadly 2004 tsunami.

In 2000, he conducted the only one-on-one interview with President Clinton during his historic trip to Vietnam.

He now serves as CNN's Chief National correspondent– a title he has held for over 15 years– and is the anchor for the Sunday program, Inside Politics.

He was the CNN anchor who confirmed the death of Osama Bin Laden to the American public in 2011. He reportedly has a net worth of $7million and a yearly salary of $2million.

King is 58 years old.

What did he do before CNN?

King was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He later attended the University of Rhode Island, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism.

In 1985, the then-22-year-old joined the Associated Press as a writer. He went on to become the chief political correspondent for the AP and won the top reporting prize from the Associated Press Managing Editors' Association for his coverage of the Gulf War. He remained at the AP until leaving for CNN in 1997.

Though King is now single, he has been married twice and has three children. His first two children, Noah and Hannah, were born to his first wife, Jean Mackie. His third child, Jonah, was born to his second wife, Dana Bash, who is also a CNN correspondent.

What has John King said about his battle with multiple sclerosis?

In October of 2021, on his show Inside Politics, King revealed that he is battling multiple sclerosis.

The announcement came as King and the other panelists were discussing Covid-19 vaccine mandates.

After sharing what he called, "a secret [he's] never spoken about before,"King told his guests: “I’m grateful my employer says all these amazing people who work on the floor, who came in here for the last 18 months when we were doing this, are vaccinated now that we have vaccines."

King continued: “I don’t like the government telling me what to do… I don’t like my boss telling me what to do. In this case, it’s important.”
