Hot, dry weather continues in Denver with 100-degree temps possible.

Hot, dry weather and gusty winds in Colorado are increasing fire danger across the state and the metro area will continue its run of near-100-degree readings on Wednesday.

Skies over Denver will be sunny and the high temperature will climb to at least 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Fire danger will be high Wednesday with increasing winds over the mountains, high valleys, and parts of the Eastern Plains, according to the weather service. The most critical conditions will be in Jackson and Grand Counties where a Red Flag Warning has been issued.

Temperatures will climb into the mid- to upper-90s across the plains and the Interstate 25 Corridor in the coming days with a few spots possibly reaching into the 100s on Friday and Monday.

On Thursday in Denver the high temperature should hit 94 degrees under sunny skies with winds gusting up to 17 mph, the weather service said.

Sunny and hot weather continues in Denver through the weekend with forecast highs of 101 on Friday; 98 on Saturday; and 100 Sunday.

Sunday in Denver brings a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
