A teenager is fighting for life after he was repeatedly stabbed during a brawl with three men in northeast London.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw a silver car in the area around Larkshall Road near Highams Park station in Chingford overnight.

Another 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Detective Inspector Daniel Thompson, leading the investigation said: "A young man is currently in hospital fighting for his life as a result of this attack."

Officers who found the teenager carried out first aid until London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived.

Detectives investigating are keen to trace a silver car, possibly a VW Golf, seen in the area around the time of the attack at 2.30am Tuesday morning.

Officers from North East BCU CID are investigating.

DI Thompson added: "We are just a few hours into our investigation we really need to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity around the railway crossing on Jubilee Avenue.

"I am especially keen to hear from anyone who saw a silver car that was paying particular attention to this incident. We know that this car stayed in the area for a number of minutes before driving away in the direction of Broadway."

Police are asking anyone with information which could help the investigation to call the Met on 101 quoting CAD 661/18 August.

Alternatively, those with information can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
