Mr Wright told the Liverpool Echo: “I was born in this house and so were my brother and my sisters. 

“I’d never move in a million years.

“You can’t move away from your home. 

“It’s not just somewhere you go and put your head down, it’s part of you.”

He is pleased with the design plans, which mean he would have a small driveway, but says he is upset that the trees – which have grown naturally on the land – would be cut down.

Mr Wright added: “It’s going to be good to see it happening. 

“My mates say ‘You’re going to be living on a building site for the next three years”, but I don’t mind.

“I can’t wait for them to start.”
