Home Depot employee killed after drywall collapses on top of him

A Missouri Home Depot employee died on the job when pieces of drywall fell on on his head, police said.

The 60-year-old man, who hasn’t been publicly identified, was using a forklift to transport the drywall in the St. Peters, Mo. store just after 12:15 a.m. Tuesday when multiple sheets collapsed on top of him, ABC News reported.

The worker was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said St. Peters Public Information Officer Melissa Doss.

In a statement to the outlet, Home Depot said it is “deeply saddened by this tragic accident” and that “our sympathy is with the family.”

“We immediately contacted the proper authorities, including OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration], and are cooperating with their investigation,” the statement read.
