The aeroplane from American Airlines was forced to return to its gate at LaGuardia Airport due to the mechanical issues. The flight was heading to Washington DC’s Reagan Airport. A law enforcement source told CNN that Mrs Clinton was on board the grounded aeroplane. The incident happened on Sunday afternoon with the flight returning to the gate at around 3:15pm.

Metal debris was also found where the mechanical issue took place.

The plane’s passengers were able to catch another flight, according to American Airlines.

The former Secretary of State has been travelling the globe as she has been promoting her book, ‘The Book of Gutsy Woman’, which she wrote with her daughter Chelsea.

Mrs Clinton has also visited the UK where she spoke at King’s College in London with the Australian president Julia Gillard.

Mrs Clinton visited Meghan Markle at her home Frogmore Cottage when she was visiting the country.

When she was asked whether she will run for president in 2020, Mrs Clinton said: “ As I say, never, never, never say never, and I will certainly tell you I am under enormous pressure from many, many, many people to think about it, but as of this moment sitting here in this studio, that is absolutely not in my plans.”

LaGuardia Airport is an airport in Queens, New York.

The airport where the incident took place is the third busiest airport serving New York City, and the twentieth busiest in the whole country.
