Hilarious moment OAP falls ASLEEP on live TV dating show after taking a sleeping pill to calm her nerves

A SPANISH OAP fell asleep on a TV show – and ended up on the receiving end of an hilarious practical joke when the presenter turned the lights off and invited the studio audience to leave.

The love-struck pensioner was where was looking for a partner to accompany her in her old age by going on the popular afternoon programme.

But her nerves got the better of her ahead of her appearance – and after taking a sleeping pill to help her get a proper night’s rest, she ended up succumbing to an unwanted siesta as presenter Juan y Medio chatted to another guest.

The studio audience struggled to stifle their laughter as the cameras focused on the elegantly-dressed lady, known only as Eloisa, and the stunned presenter joked: “We don’t know if we’re witnessing a tragic death live on TV or whether Eloisa has fallen asleep.

The audience struggled to keep their laughter under control as she slumbered

“From now on we can’t laugh and we’ll have to applaud either very quietly or by just raising our hands and moving them around.

“This happens more often that you think because people don’t sleep the night before and then eat something.”

He added with his deadpan humour which has won him an army of fans in Andalucia where he presents his regional show: “And if after the meal you do a Zumba class then you end up like Eloisa sleeping peacefully under an almond tree.

“What’s more, we don’t even know if she’s possessed and is in contact right now with the Hereafter.”

As she carried on sleeping, he asked technicians to turn off the studio lights and told his audience and cameramen: “Let’s go” as he motioned to the other two guests to follow him.

He then sent a helper in to wake her up and tell her the programme had finished half an hour earlier.

When the female assistant sat down beside her and woke her up by gentle shaking her shoulder, confused Eloisa’s first reaction was to shout out: “Who is it, who is it?” before confessing she had taken a sleeping pill to help her combat nerves the night before which were stopping her from getting a good night’s kip.

Her confusion turned to embarrassment when the presenter reappeared and told her her siesta had been seen by millions of viewers before adding: “Your daughter’s just phoned me. You’ve been sleeping since yesterday” and telling her the studio audience was a different one to that invited to watch the programme she’d been on.

The hilarious sequence of events happened on a Canal Sur programme called ‘La tarde aquí y ahora’ which features people from all over southern Spain who go on looking for love.

The footage showing sleeping Eloisa, who comes from the south east province of Almeria, has already been seen by nearly three million people.
