Hero journalist ‘refused to lie down’ and feared London Bridge attackers would blow up pub
“If I rush him he may detonate and kill us all, the only thing I can do is talk to him and hopefully they will go home”
Geoffrey Ho
“After three or four kicks the door came off its hinge and they were able to squeeze their way through.
“The man wearing the Arsenal shirt said: ‘Everyone lie down on the fing floor, lie down on the f***ing floor’.
“He walked right towards me. He had the knife in his hand. He repeated his instruction.
“I said ‘no you don’t have to do this’ and then I started walking backwards to the side.”
Asked why he continued: “If I rush him he may detonate and kill us all, the only thing I can do is talk to him and hopefully they will go home.
“If I lay down on the floor, either way my back or my front, I would be dead. He was like an animal, he just wanted to kill people. There was rage, the eyes were full of blood, just murderous rage.
“He spat the words out, forcefully, with venom.”
Mr Ho said the attacker went for him after he didn’t lie down.
He told the inquest: “He lunged towards me. At this point it gets fuzzy but yes I remember getting to my knees and then I remember more contact. He hit my neck first then he hit it again and tried twisting it, I remember blood and then came at me again and tried to stab me in the stomach.
“I remember moving my stomach out of the way and he got a scratch on me. I remember him going for the side of my neck.”
