Hero boy, 11, saved choking pal and pulled elderly woman from fire on same day

An 11-year-old boy has been hailed as a hero after saving two lives in one day.

Davyon Johnson, from Oklahoma, was honoured in a special ceremony by his local community after performing the Heimlich maneuver on a choking classmate.

And just a few hours later, he rescued an elderly woman with a walker escape a fire in her home.

A presentation was made by the Muskogee Police Department and the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office, where he was made an honorary member of both of their forces during a local schools board meeting on December 15, ABC News reports.

His school principal Latricia Dawkins told local news: “He has always indicated that he wants to be an EMT, so he got to put that desire into action and immediately saved that young man.”

The classmate was attempting to loosen the cap of his water bottle with his mouth when it slipped and went straight down his throat.

Attempting to seek help, he found his way into the classroom where Davyon Johnson was located.

Ms Dawkins said: “Davyon immediately sprinted over and did the Heimlich maneuver.

“From the account of the witnesses, when he did it the bottle cap popped out.

He admitted to police that he learned about the move on YouTube.

And the boy told local news about the second incident, which happened on his way home.

Having noticed a disabled woman walking out of her house, while the back of it was on fire, he helped her get into her truck so she could seek further help.

He said: “She was on her porch, but I thought, being a good citizen, I would cross and help her get into her truck and leave.”

The fire did eventually spread to the front of the house, where the woman was originally standing.

A Facebook post from his school district has been liked more than 1,000 times, with comments praising the boy flooding the post.

Shauna Jacobs-George wrote: “What a brave young man! Keep being an amazing human being!”

And Julia Lane said that Muskogee, Oklahoma was “lucky” to have such a “great young man/hero”.
