Harry finds royal tension ‘regrettable’ but feels ‘liberated’ after Megxit

Prince Harry feels "liberated" in his new life in the US with Meghan Markle but finds the situation with his family "regrettable", an insider has claimed.

The 36-year-old quit royal life last year in a bid to become financially independent, and it has coincided with worsening relations with his relatives.

These were heightened by the couple's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, which featured a number of claims and allegations against the Royal Family.

However, a source told US Weekly is enjoying life abroad.

They said: "Harry does not have any regrets. He feels liberated and excited about starting this new chapter."

The Duke of Sussex is said to believe that moving stateside "is the best decision he's ever made".

But the prince is still hopeful his relationship with his family will be repaired.

Among the allegations made in the Oprah interview included Meghan's claims that sister-in-law Kate Middleton made her cry in a row over bridesmaid dresses and the accusation that a member of the family was concerned about baby Archie's skin tone.

The source said: "Harry finds the situation with his family regrettable.

"But he says (they have) no regrets about moving….and that things are just getting started for them."

Harry and Meghan stepped back from official royal duties in March 2020.

During the Oprah interview, Harry also said he is on a "different path" to his brother Prince William and claimed his sibling and father are "trapped within the system" as the heir and future heir to the throne.

He added: "The relationship is space at the moment. And, you know, time heals all things, hopefully."

Since the couple quit as working royals, they have launched their Archewell foundation and signed multi-million pound deals with streaming services Netflix and Spotify.
