Gucci employee is fired for bragging about her free uniform on TikTok

Gucci sales associate is FIRED for making TikTok joking about running away with free designer uniform including $920 loafers and $1,500 bag which bosses made her return

  • Melanie Moradi says she was fired from the LA designer store after showing off her designer uniform on TikTok
  • Moradi joked she would ‘ghost’ bosses and run away with the $1,500 handbag
  • She admitted she was relieved to be sacked as she ‘hated’ the job anyway

A Gucci sales associate claims she was fired after she made a TikTok bragging about her free uniform – which included a $1,500 handbag and a $920 pair of loafers – on her first day.

Melanie Moradi, from Los Angeles, joked she might ‘ghost’ the designer brand and run away with the freebies in a clip which has been viewed over 9.4 million times.

She also labelled a pair of white sneakers she was gifted as ‘basic’ while adding she wasn’t a fan of one of the Gucci uniform jacket.

Managers at the LA store accused her of breaching their social media guidelines meaning she was forced to return the lavish goods – though she hit back by claiming she ‘hated’ the job anyway.

Moradi set the video to the song ‘Gucci Gang’ by Lil Pump and wrote at the beginning ‘Everything Gucci gave me for free on my first day.’

Should I just keep the bag and ghost #gucci

She proceeds to unbox two giant shopping bags filled with three blouses, two pairs of trousers, two blazers, a bag, a belt, socks, a pair of loafers and a pair of white sneakers.

As she unboxed the trainers she wrote ‘eh, basic’ while she said of the trousers: ‘Gorgeous color but needs alterations.’

The socks alone retail at $290, according to Gucci’s website while the similar looking belts on the online store sell for between $400 and $550.

The bag is a ‘GG Marmont mini shoulder bag’ which retails for $1,550 , according to Gucci’s website while the ‘Women’s Gucci Jordaan leather loafer’ cost $920.

The white sneakers couldn’t be found on the brand’s online store but similar pairs market for around $800-$900.

All Gucci employees are given the same uniform, she later confirmed, though the men’s differs slightly.

She captioned the video: ‘Should I just keep the bag and ghost?’

Eleven days later, she admitted she was fired as she joked: ‘Maybe read the social media guidelines when you get hired or don’t because I hated the job anyway.’

She was originally asked to delete the video – to which she complied – but eventually lost her job anyway.

In another clip she filmed herself enjoying ice-cream in the uniform with her friend – after being fired.

Moradi later said that she didn’t lose her job over the video itself but for the joke she was going to run away with the goods.

‘They didn’t fire me for the video itself. They fired me for my caption,’ she told Insider. ‘HR told me it didn’t shine a good light onto Gucci.’

She added that she was glad the video had shone a light on the ‘standards and conditions that we’re accepting at work,’ adding workers should ‘not be so willing to sacrifice our mental health, our well-being, or freedom of expression for the sake of a job.’

so maybe read the social media guidelines when you get hired or dont because I hated the job anyway 💀💀 #gucci #fired #yolo #icecream #guccigan

Moradi she said she was a ‘spiritual person’ and felt the universe had ‘heard my call and answered my blessings’ by freeing her from the retail job

In a follow-up video she explained she had several other forms of income as she worked as a personal assistant and ran a personalized gift bag business called ‘Basket Bestie.’

Gucci’s guidelines permit employees to post about the designer but are urged to apply ‘best judgment,’ its guidelines state.

Moradi told Insider the job fell into her lap as she had a close friend who worked for the company but she found retail miserable.

‘I’m a very spiritual person,’ she added.

‘I feel like the universe heard my call and answered my blessings.

‘I was very relieved to get let go. I just wish the situation was handled with more grace, compassion, and understanding.’
