This year’s Grand National is expected to be the biggest ever, with punters expecting to put down £650million in wages.

To banish the Brexit blues, horse racing fans are also predicted to get through their fair share of booze.

Around 300,000 pints and 8,000 bottles of fizz will be downed by thirsty punters at Aintree.

In the past few years, the racecourse has imposed strict rules to prevent binge drinking at the historic circuit.

Among these was a four drink limit imposed for punters at the bar.

And this year looks set to be no different, with the Jockey Club releasing their official statement for this year.

It reads: “Members of the public are advised no alcohol can be brought onto the premises and this will be confiscated on arrival by a memberof the security team.

“Aintree racecourse operates a responsible drinking policy and all staff are trained to the highest standards.”

The Merseyside race meeting is known for the free flowing alcohol, if pictures from recent years are anything to go by.

Pictures from Ladies Day have shown girls baring their backsides, groping and kissing each other.

The boozing got so bad that Merseyside Police Chief Superintendent Dave Charnock said: “ I want to make it clear that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

“I want to make it clear that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Alcohol related disorder wis not tolerated on the course or in surrounding areas, he added.

Anyone fancying a tipple at Aintree will be met with London prices at the bars.

The cheapest pint at last year’s festival was a Carling for £4.10, with wines starting at £6.40 a glass.
