Grand Junction ICU nurse allegedly sexually assaulted patients in his care

An intensive care nurse at a Grand Junction hospital has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting patients in his care.

Christopher Peter Lambros, 61, was arrested on Oct. 25 in connection to an ongoing investigation into alleged sexual misconduct at his workplace, including sexual acts as well as taking photographs and video clips of victims who were in an unresponsive state, according to an arrest affidavit.

On July 9, police responded to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction on a report that Lambros was seen taking photos, with a cell phone, of a patient’s genitals, according to the affidavit. A witness had walked into an intensive care unit room, with the lights out and curtain drawn, and came across the alleged incident. That person reported the incident to her supervisor and police were contacted.

An officer went to Lambros’s home to question him and the officer asked if he could look at his cell phone. Lambros agreed, according to the affidavit, and the officer seized the phone, citing probable cause and pursued a search warrant, which was signed by a judge on July 13.

Investigators found evidence of the sexual acts on the phone, including photographs and video clips of Lambros assaulting patients, the affidavit said.

Investigators believe there are at least three victims in the case. Lambros is heard whispering in one video clip, according to the affidavit, referring to it as his “Dexter collection.”

Lambros faces three sex assault counts in the case. He has a court hearing scheduled on Friday.

He remains in custody at the Mesa County Jail with bond set at $250,000.
