Gran, 70, killed in front of her family after being hit by a motorbike as she was crossing the road

A GRAN has been killed in front of her horrified family after being hit by a motorcyclist as she was crossing the road.

The woman, 70, was struck by the motorbike outside an Asda supermarket in Oldbury, West Mids, last night.

Mark Jaff was near the busy Wolverhampton Road when the devastating incident took place at around 8.30pm.

He said one biker was on the ground – who was later treated by paramedics – but claimed that the other motorcyclist rode off.

PURE CARNAGE

He said: “I was in Asda but been talking to the granddaughter of the lady that has past away (sic).

“Undertaker has just taken the lady away god bless her.”

An eyewitness told Black Country Live that the crash scene "looked like pure carnage".

She said: "It was awful. The whole road was closed off by officers and it looked like pure carnage."

Emergency services rushed to the scene last night but the West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the woman died following the horror crash.

CRITICAL CONDITION

A spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a woman, was in a critical condition when ambulance staff arrived.

“The team of medics worked quickly to administer advanced life support to her but sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead on scene a short time later.

“The motorcyclist, a man, sustained minor injuries and didn’t require hospital treatment.”

A West Midlands Police spokesman added: "Officers were called to Wolverhampton Road at 8.35pm, where a 70-year-old woman was found with serious injuries under a bridge.

"It’s believed the woman was crossing the road with two family members when she was struck by a motorbike.

"Sadly, the pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene just after 9pm and her family are now being "supported by specialist officers.

"We have spoken with two motorcyclists at the scene and they are both helping police with enquiries."
