Glammest outfits from Aintree Ladies Day as racing lovers let their hair down

    • It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year in the horse racing Calendar – the Grand National has come once more to Aintree!

    The three-day meeting spans from Thursday to Saturday each year – but on Friday something very special happens.

    And that’s because the final day of the working week is reserved for Ladies Day.

    It’s traditionally a day of high-octane racing and even more intense rabble rousing, with previous years filled with some truly insane antics that have to be seen to be believed.

    Today (Friday April 14) glam ladies have donned their finest glad rags to get down to the race-course and partake in a wild day of betting and boozing.

    This year’s Grand National festival will see £3.47million in prize money paid out.

    Punters are expected to wage £150million on races, while thirsty race fans will have to fork out £7.50 a pint.

    Around 150,000 people will be attending the three-day race meeting while over 600 million people worldwide are expected to watch Saturday’s showpiece steeplechase.

    Liverpool’s fashion boutiques are also expecting a 600% rise in fake tan purchases and a 65% uplift in fake eyelash purchases before the event.

    Whether or not any of these lads and lasses will look anywhere near as presentable in eight hours time, who can tell?
