Fuming French tourist turned away from pub ‘because of inappropriate trousers’
A French couple were left livid after being turned away from a pub in Edinburgh for wearing 'inappropriate trousers.'
Jo, from Paris, was on the hunt to sample some traditional Scottish food and drink with her husband.
They decided to head for the George IV Bar after hearing rave reviews from locals, Edinburgh Live reports.

But the couple were turned away at the door as Jo's husband was wearing black Kappa tracksuit bottoms, an apparent violation of the pub's dress code.
Jo said: "My husband and I are from France and for a first night in Edinburgh, we really wanted a nice pub where we could eat food and listen to music at the same time.
"The place was very well noted and the food looked delicious so we tried to get in. My husband was refused entry by the security guard that deemed his pants 'inappropriate for a restaurant.'
"Very disappointed and I definitely won't recommend it. We're currently eating at a pub that doesn't have live music, too bad for us, but at least we are welcome and we're eating well."
However, the bar's general manager hit back, writing: "We have a policy of no tracksuits/cottons/jobby catchers in the bar in the evenings.
"Many bars in Edinburgh have the same policy. We work hard to cater for our clientele."

The George IV Bar is a traditional Scottish pub that serves classic pub food and drinks in the heart of the city's Old Town.
It has a four-and-a-half-star rating on Tripadvisor and many good reviews.
it is not the first time a tourist has fallen foul of the dress code of a boozy establishment.
In February last year, a furious customer gave Fazenda Bar & Grill, also in Old Town, a one star review after being denied entry due to the dress code.
At the time the venue said it had a dress code that does "not permit sportswear or beachwear."
