Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick 'still working' on return to NFL
Colin Kaepernick, it seems, is still ready for another shot in the NFL.
The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback shared a video on social media of him working out on a field on Thursday. The post is the first of its kind in a while from Kaepernick, who has essentially been backballed by the league after he first started taking a knee during the national anthem in protest.

Clearly, Kaepernick still hasn’t given up on a return to the league.
Kaepernick, 34, hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2016 season, which marked his sixth with the 49ers. Kaepernick started kneeling during the national anthem that season to protest social justice issues throughout the United States. Though that form of protest is now extremely common throughout the sports world, it drew intense criticism at the time — including from then-candidate and future President Donald Trump.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract the following March after the 49ers reportedly said they were going to cut him, and he hasn’t played since. He filed a grievance against the league along with former teammate Eric Reid, claiming that team owners colluded to keep him out of the NFL. They settled that grievance in 2019.
Kaepernick has long said that he is still ready to play again and that he's following a strict workout routine even though it's been about five years since he's been on an NFL roster. Though it's tough to determine much from an eight second video, Kaepernick is clearly still very active.
Whether a team actually gives him a chance, however, still remains to be seen.
