Footballer who mowed down teens 'like skittles' after they called him 'fatty' jailed for ten years

AN AMATEUR footballer who drove his car into a crowd of opposition fans in a rage after they called him “fatty” has been jailed for ten years.

Lee Taylor, 35, lost his temper during a confrontation after his Margam team lost a match 5-0.

He injured 11 supporters aged 14 to 19 when he “moved them down like skittles at a bowling alley” in his BMW.

He told police he feared being attacked and said: “I wasn’t going to stay and take a kicking.”

Taylor, of Port Talbot, South Wales, was found guilty of dangerous driving and 11 attempted GBH counts last month.

At sentencing this week at Newport crown court, Judge Daniel Williams told him: “You were angry and acted to exact your revenge on those who had dented your fragile ego.”

The youngest injured fan was 14 – and later told police he was “frozen in fear” and “thought he was going to die”.

Judge Daniel Williams said: "The spat between two boys could have been defused by any adult with an ounce of common sense but you did not have that.

"Luckily none of the boys were seriously injured but the jury found that your intention was to do them serious harm.

"The events of this evening show that you have lost none of your hair trigger temper."

Taylor was jailed for a total of 10 years and was banned from driving for six years.
